Product Review on Best UTV for Hunting and Working

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Plymouth, Minn. (July 27, 2015) – OutdoorHub.com owned by Carbon Media Group is comprised of market-leading online content that connects advertisers with the largest digital audience of outdoor enthusiasts (30 Million Unique Visitors per month). From hunters and anglers to skiers, hikers and boaters to commercial and hobby farmers, their audience is made up of the people who view outdoor recreation as an essential part of their daily lives.

The 2016 Arctic Cat HDX 700 XT EPS is as good looking as it is functional.

The email was short and sweet. It was from Arctic Cat media guy, Kale Wainer, and it simply said, "Hey, we’ve got something coming out soon that you’re really going to be interested in."

Kale knows that I love ATVs and that I do a lot of hunting and land management, so I expected something cool. Kale did not disappoint.

The 2016 Arctic Cat Prowler HDX 700 XT EPS is a beast of a machine for hunting and working, and you have to admit, it’s sharp looking, too.

The first thing you’d notice if you went into a dealership and saw a 2015 sitting next to the new 2016 is the physical appearance. This comparison might be hard to do, as Cat dealers are selling the HDXs just about as fast as they get them in. My dealership, Peacock, Ltd. in Baldwin, Michigan, would have loved to be able to put my test unit on the sales floor. When AC showed all of us media goons the redesign of

the standard Prowler last fall, we all knew it was only a matter of time before the HDX got the treatment. The style gives the HDX some smooth lines and sleek appearance. But it’s not just for show.

Don’t hate me because I’m beautiful

Starting at the front of the Prowler, there is an automotive-style hood release. Many UTVs have some kind of hood that allows access to the radiator and electronics. AC added in over 22 gallons of semi-sealed storage. I say semi-sealed in that there is a rubber gasket surrounding the area. It’ll keep dust and moisture out, but don’t submerge the HDX and think your stuff is going to stay dry. There are also very handy storage compartments just in front of the rear wheels. They are a great place to haul some tools, tie-downs, or other gear. Let’s face it, you can never have enough places to store gear. They also tweaked the dashboard and added a 1.9-gallon glove box. The layout of the dash is superb, with an easy-to-read digital display, plenty of spots for accessory switches, and one of the best steering wheels in the industry.

The headlights have hi/lo beams and ultra-stylish LED driving lights. Cat put a lot of attention to detail in the new HDX.

Part of the redesigned appearance is the headlight package. You get standard low and high beams, which are plenty bright. The cool factor comes from the sweet LED driving lights that outline the lower half of the headlight assembly, much like the higher-end luxury cars. Aside from doing a great job as driving lights, they just look cool as heck. That’s part of the HDX’s appeal. It looks sweet. From the aluminum rims to the sharp color contrasts, it’s a great-looking machine that is just as functional.

Kitty’s got claws

The heart of the HDX is the 700 H1, 695cc, liquid-cooled, single-cylinder engine. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: with some people being very vocal that big engines need to be V-twins, big single-cylinder

engines have just as much place in the market. Often the argument against a single is they are loud and

vibrate. The HDX isn’t very loud. In fact, Cat made it eight decibels than previous models. The new closed-loop EFI system uses an oxygen sensor, much like a car engine, to automatically adjust for the ideal exhaust air-to-fuel ratio. What you end up with is a powerful engine that has a lot of torque (something I’m a big fan of) and a pretty smooth ride.

Oh, the ride—now we get to talk about suspension. The HDX has 10 inches of ground clearance and 10 inches of wheel travel at all four corners riding on double-wishbone A-arms. The front shocks work very well, but it’s the rear shocks that will get you excited. Arctic Cat equipped it with Fox Float coil-over shocks. Aside from Fox being one of the premium brands in suspension, the Fox Floats are infinitely adjustable with an included air pump. Have a really heavy load, like a bunch of fertilizer, or an elk? Pump up the shocks for a better ride quality. It’s very cool and a feature you’ll really like.

With a 1,000-pound capacity and enough room for a full-size pallet, the HDX bed is pretty awesome.

That brings us to the monster dump box. At 56 inches wide and 42.5 inches long, the huge cargo box hauls up to 1,000 pounds of equipment and materials. Need more space? It converts to a flatbed in minutes. Need to haul more? There is a two-inch receiver and a 1,500-pound towing capacity. Arctic Cat has a plethora of accessories available, including a serious set of Speedpoint implements for working up food plots, gardens, and the like.

I like it—I really, really like it

When I first brought the Cat home, I took off on a nice, leisurely 50-mile trail ride. I didn’t get on the gas or anything—I just wanted to cruise. I noticed right away that the seats are very comfortable as is the seatbelt. The side restraints are good too, as are the sleek net doors. I wonder if Cat will come up with a hard half-door at some point. That would be a nice touch. The flat floors are good for getting in and out, as well as drainage. The steering wheel adjustment is really nice, too. It’s pretty easy to get comfortable
in the HDX. My only gripe is that the gas pedal needs to be closer to the floor. It takes some getting used to for taller guys with big feet.

Overall, I’m very impressed with the HDX. I’m planning to use it for some camping trips this summer as I can haul all of my gear in it and then some. It is a machine that has the ability to work and play evenly, making it a great choice for those with an adventurous spirit and a lot of stuff to haul into the great wild places. The MSRP for the green and black models is $13,999 ($14,399 for camo). Good luck finding one at your dealer, though. They are selling faster than Girl Scout Cookies outside an overeater’s anonymous meeting.

Arctic Cat Wildcat Trail XT Impressions

First Test Ride of the 2014 Wildcat Trail XT

Chad took out a 2014 Wildcat Trail XT and put 30 miles on it over the weekend. He had it in various situations, such as climbing and descending trails, in the rocks, snow and some water crossings.

First impressions: sitting down in the Wildcat Trail is fairly comfortable, even for a big guy ( 6’2” and 265lbs).  The steering wheel has a thicker grip to help grip the wheel. There could be a bit more leg room, shifter is easy to use and all switches are easy to see and get to.  Both gas and brake pedal were easy to get to in hiking boots and comfortable to maintain a position on.

Ride on the Arctic Cat Wildcat trail is very comfortable and stable in all the situations. Ride is so smooth that there were no unexpected jolts from the gas or brake pedal.

The Arctic Cat Wildcat Trail has a great low center of gravity! It is stable and ‘confidence inspiring’ in off camber situations and places when a tire is off the ground. The Trail is stable and drove well at 50 mph on a smooth gravel road. The Arctic Cat Wildcat Trail never felt uncomfortable or had any surprises.

The steering (even with the lack of power steering) is great! The Arctic Cat Wildcat Trail that was tested does not have power steering.  Most of the time in the 30 miles driven it was able to be maneuvered with one hand.  The steering was positive, smooth, and responsive. Chad’s only complaint is that the steering might be just a touch heavy in quick full steering moments with one hand.

Power: The 700 cc in line twin motor is adequate even above timber line climbing steep inclines.  Throttle response is crisp and pulls strong.  The Arctic Cat Wildcat will run 50 MPH on gravel road with more to go.  Clutching was quick to engage and had good hold back going downhill. The motor and clutch also recovered quickly to re accelerate when getting to the bottom.

Overall impressions:  Chad was very pleased with the UTV. Good power, great ride, very stable, comfortable to ride in, responsive steering, great braking  and the storage area can carry coolers and bags easily while accepting most 1” ratchet straps easily.

Chad would like a touch more leg room and better fender protection from the spray off of the tires. Overall for the price paid compared to other side by sides the Wildcat Trail is a great vehicle.

Winter is upon us...

So being new to Arctic Cat and selling sleds and snowmobiles there is an air of excitement between the snow show and all of the product showing up. The Arctic Cat M8000 mountain sled was the first snowmobile to be delivered to Four To Go this fall, has been assembled and is ready for snow. With the cooler temperatures and rumors of snow falling in the high country the days are getting closer when the new machines can actually be taken out.

Arctic Cat Mountain sleds are made specifically for high mountain climbing and back country powder with lots of horsepower, light weight frame with lots of strength, vertical steering, and Fox Float suspension. Mountain sleds have 2 track lengths (153" and 162") as well as 3 motor sizes ... The 6000 and 8000 models feature a 2-stroke C-Tec2 fuel injected motor with the 8000 boasting 160 horsepower. The 9000 is one of the few 4-stroke motors featuring 177 horsepower.

Some of the comfort features of the M8000 sled are as follows, push button engine reverse, dual halogen headlight, front bumper, deluxe digital analog gauge, electric gas gauge, hand and thumb warmers, altimeter, accessory outlet, and optional electric start..

Colorado Snowmobile Expo

This weekend is the Colorado Snowmobile Expo at the National Western Stock Show Complex in Denver. Four To Go is excited that for the first time we will be there with Arctic Cat.

Since expanding into the ATV/Snowmobile and Side by Side business Four To Go has had to learn and adjust to many new advertising and marketing ideas. This type of show is new to us. Although we have done shows on a much smaller scale before in the 4WD aftermarket I believe they are all just a little bit different.

Being that we are the closest dealer to the National Western Complex we have the privilege of seeing some of the displays and vehicles a little bit earlier than everyone, as they use our address as the shipping depot. Guess what? We don't keep secrets well! Here are some pictures of what we have ...

Our First Delivery ...

Hopefully they are sending someone to put this together also!

The 2015 WildCat Trail Limited --- they must love Denver with the orange accents!

David McClure's actual racing sled! They are trusting us to put this together ... Wish there was snow, we could take it for a test drive.

So come visit us this weekend. Saturday show hours are from 9 am - 7 pm and Sunday hours are 9 am - 2 pm. I believe there will be some specials on units if you come talk to one of us!

2014 Arctic Cat Wildcat X

Funny how things change so quickly! One day can make all the difference. On September 7th all current model year dirt units from Arctic Cat quickly turned to not current. Which really doesn't change the unit much at all except all the 'deals' change. The rebates might get better but any financing options change ... Never fear we have found another company that will finance, might not be as great of a rate but still not a bad one.

Currently in stock, one of the models we have is the Wildcat X 2 seat. These are super versatile vehicles that can go from racing hills one weekend, to Moab 4 wheeling during the week and then desert racing the following weekend, without missing a beat. All this can be done without changing anything, except adding 5 point harnesses. People of all ages love the features of this zippy side by side.

The Wildcat X features a 951 CC engine rated at 90 horsepower, a rapid response drive clutch, high air flow intake, durable exoskeleton frame, electronic power steering, Fox podium shocks (please check back for the evaluation of the Podium 2 shocks from Fox) 17-18" of suspension travel 13" of ground clearance, LED lighting and automotive style paint.

There are tons of accessories available for your Wildcat X including full doors, roofs, upgraded seats and shocks, however I mentioned that these vehicles are fully capable of so much just bone stock.
